What are the benefits of a solid reference junction?
Issues involving the premature failure of pH sensors are related to the sensor’s liquid junction. Industry pundits put the figure at around 80-90%. The pH sensor liquid junction fails due to the coating of the porous junction or what is known as the poisoning of the reference electrolyte. Once the reference electrode has been compromised the measuring electrode no longer has a reference or pre-determined known measurement to compare to.
